Vkhodnoy Island ( Russian Остров Входной Ostrow Wchodnoi , German 'entry island ' ) is a small island off the coast of the East Antarctic Queen Marie Land . In the group of Haswell Islands , it is 0.8 km southwest of Tokarev Island and 2.2 km northwest of Mabus Point .
Aerial photographs of the US American Operation Highjump (1946–1947) were used to map them. Soviet scientists re-mapped and named it in 1956. It is named after the fact that the island is probably at the entrance of the ship route from Mabus Point to Mirny station . The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names transferred the Russian name in 1968 in a partial translation into English.
