The Vlaardingervaart is a canal in the province of South Holland in the Netherlands . It connects the village of Schipluiden with the Oude Haven (old port) in Vlaardingen , where the canal flows into the Nieuwe Maas . The Vlaardingervaart has a length of eight kilometers.

The Vlaardingervaart arises from the confluence of the Gaag and Lierwatering canals at Schipluiden. In the immediate vicinity of this is the Trambrug (tram bridge), built in 1910–1912 , on which trams pulled by steam locomotives operated and which is now used as a bicycle bridge.

Halfway there is a connection to the Noordvliet Canal at Maassluis .

Before the arrival of steam shipping, ships on the Vlaardingervaart were mostly moved by towing .
