Vladimír Zmeškal

Vladimír Zmeškal (born November 5, 1902 in Prague ; † April 8, 1966 there ) was a Czech Sorabist and film director .

From 1919 he worked in the Společnost přátel Lužice association, where he contributed significantly to the publication of the magazine Lužickosrbský věstník , and was an active supporter of Sorbian culture in Prague. He was responsible for the book series Bibliothek Dom a swět (Sorbian for house and world ), which the group of Sorbian writers founded in 1900 published from 1921 to 1937. The series published 33 volumes with works by contemporary Sorbian authors and translations, mainly from other Slavic languages.
