Vladimir Gortan (born June 7, 1904 in Beram near Pazin , † October 17, 1929 in Pula ) was a political activist of the Croatian minority in Italy.

Gortan was a member of the anti-fascist organization TIGR (Triest-Istrien-Görz-Rijeka), which organized demonstrations against the violent Italianization and a fascist referendum in Istria . On the day of the referendum, March 24, 1929 , he took part in an armed operation aimed at obstructing the violent referendum. It was supposed to prove that Istria could not be pacified or internationalized. He was caught while fleeing and tortured for a long time. A special court in Rome sentenced him to death by shooting in order to intimidate the Istrian Croats . Because of his brave perseverance, he quickly became a symbol of the national and anti-fascist struggle in Istria.
