The Großer Riesenkopf is a mountain in the Bavarian Inn Valley . It is 1337 m high and can be assigned geographically to the eastern Mangfall Mountains in the Bavarian Prealps .

location

The mountain is located in the easternmost part of the Wendelstein group of the Mangfall Mountains in the area of ​​the municipality of Flintsbach am Inn . It is the neighboring summit of the 1338-meter-high Rehleitenkopf , which is only about 700 meters south-southeast , with which it is connected by a pass about 1220 meters high. The Hohe Asten mountain farm is located south of the summit . To the east of the Riesenkopf are the ruins of Falkenstein Castle and the church on Petersberg .

Ascent

The Großer Riesenkopf can be reached by hiking trails from the towns of Flintsbach am Inn and Brannenburg in the Inn Valley . The ascent from Brannenburg runs over a short section secured with wooden stairs and wire rope. The neighboring Maiwand is reserved for climbers.
