Vogel Holgott and Vogel Mosam

Vogel Holgott and Vogel Mosam is an animal tale ( AaTh 160). It is in Ludwig Bechstein's German Book of Fairy Tales at position 75 (1845 No. 82) and comes from Antonius von Pforr's The Book of Examples of the Old Wise Men (Chapter 16: From the birds ).

content

Osprey Holgott finds a rich fish lake that he wants to bequeath to his children one day. His wife is not allowed to tell her friend Mosam. So she pretends to get a secret medicine for the children. Holgott refuses and tells a story.

origin

The fable , like nos. 56 , 57 , 58 , 59 , comes from Antonius von Pforr's book of examples of the ancient sages , a translation of the Indian Panchatantra . At least with Bechstein it is the prelude to the following No. 76 From Two Monkeys , No. 77 From the Wolf and the Mouse Dogs , No. 78 The Cat and the Mouse .
