From two monkeys

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

An animal tale is about two monkeys . It is in Ludwig Bechstein's German Fairy Tale Book at position 76 (1845 No. 87) and comes from Antonius von Pforr's The Book of Examples of the Old Wise Men (Chapter 16: The Mangy Monkey ).

content

A monkey promises healing to an old, sick monkey through the tongue of a snake in a cave, and there lets the dragon devour it. Vogel Holgott tells this to his wife so that she doesn't get an alleged cure for the children. But she does it as an excuse to tell her friend Mosam where Holgott wants to move her to. On their advice, Mosam pretends to have found the place too and lets Holgott persuade him to go with them. Holgott tells his wife a story.

origin

The monkey has "the diamond" (maybe mange ). The fable comes from Antonius von Pforr's book of examples of the ancient sages . At Bechstein it follows the previous number 75 Vogel Holgott and Vogel Mosam , followed by No. 77 Von dem Wolf und der Maushunden , No. 78 The Cat and the Mouse .
