The vocal ensemble "Brevis" is a girls' choir from Osijek , Croatia , which consists of around 20 girls aged 17 to 22 years. All singers had previously started singing in the Osijek Children's Choir "Osječki Zumbići" and developed their voices and singing technique there. Since its inception, the choir has been directed by Antoaneta Radočaj-Jerković and accompanied on the piano by accompanist Davor Dedić .

history

The vocal ensemble "Brevis" consists of the former members of the children's choir "Osječki Zumbići", which was founded in 1989 according to the idea of ​​music teacher Jelena Burić in cooperation with the Institute for Schooling of the City of Osijek. Initially, the choir, founded in 1995, worked at the “Franjo Kuhač” music school, then as part of the “Naša djeca” community. On February 21, 1998, the youth music association "Polifonija", an independent, unprofitable association for children and young people, was founded. "Polifonija" has around 200 active members who are divided into five choirs according to age, ability and experience. The vocal ensemble "Brevis" is the oldest choir of this association.

Antoaneta Radočaj-Jerković, conductor and artistic director of the choir, graduated solo singing and musicology in Osijek and Zagreb. Since 1995 she has worked as a conductor and artistic director in several choirs: in the children's choir "Osječki Zumbići", in the children's choir "Brevis", in the vocal ensemble "Brevis", and since 2004 in the "Mixed Academic Choir JJ Strossmayer" at the Art Academy in Osijek. Antoaneta Radočaj-Jerković is also a professor at the Art Academy in Osijek. Davor Dedić, répétiteur of the choir, graduated in musicology in Osijek. Since 1995 he has worked as a répétiteur in the choirs "Osječki Zumbići" and "Brevis". He took part in projects of the Croatian National Theater in Osijek and the City Theater “Komedija” in Zagreb. He is also a member of the Croatian Youth Musicians Jazz Orchestra.

Working together

The choir has a long-term cooperation with the “Volksdeutsche Gemeinschaft der Donauschwaben ”, the “Croatian Music Youth Zagreb”, the “ Matica hrvatska ”, the “ Lions Club Croatia”, the “ Rotary Club Croatia” and other cultural institutions in the city of Osijek. There is also a collaboration with the Croatian National Theater in Osijek; The members of the choir appear as part of the cooperation in some opera performances of the Croatian National Theater in Osijek.
