Volán FC
The Volán FC was a Hungarian football club from the Rákospalota district in the XV. District in the northeast of Budapest . The club played its home games in the Budai II László Stadium , which has 10,000 seats, including 3,000 seats.
The club, named after the bus transport company Borsod Volán , played in the first Hungarian league, the Nemzeti Bajnokság I , for six years between 1979 and 1991 , but without achieving impressive results. An 11th place in the first first division year was the greatest success. After relegation in 1991, Volán fell into disrepair and was dissolved. Thereupon a new club called Rákospalotai EAC was founded, which took advantage of Volán's right to play in the second division, but relied on the traditions of the club of the same name, which was founded in 1912, but went under during the Second World War.
The most famous player in the club's history is the 76-time Hungarian national player Ferenc Bene , who spent one season at the club in 1978/79 and 1983/84.
Volán means something like tax (of a vehicle) in Hungarian , from the French volant .
