The Vol'nyje Islands ( English ; Russian Острова Вольные Ostrowa Wolnyje , German 'Free Islands' ) are a group of islands off the Knox coast of the East Antarctic Wilkesland . They are located in the area of the Bunger Oasis .
Scientists from a Soviet Antarctic expedition mapped it and named it in 1956. The Antarctic Names Committee of Australia translated this name into English in 1989.
