The Gmina Borek Wielkopolski is an urban-and-rural municipality in the powiat Gostyński of the Greater Poland Voivodeship in Poland . Its seat is the city of the same name (until November 1958 Borek , German Borek ) with about 2500 inhabitants.
geography
The municipality is located in the southern part of the voivodeship. The district town of Gostyń (Gostyn) is ten kilometers to the west, Leszno (Lissa) about 35 kilometers to the west, the capital of the voivodeship, Poznan, about 50 kilometers to the northwest. Neighboring municipalities are the municipalities of Dolsk in the northwest, Jaraczewo in the northeast and east, Koźmin Wielkopolski in the southeast, Pogorzela in the south and Piaski in the west.
The most important river is the 29 kilometers long Pogona, which flows through the main town. Due to the lack of water in the highlands, it is dammed near Jeżewo. The Dąbrówka touches the north of the municipality.
The community has an area of 127.6 km², 77 percent of which is used for agriculture and 15 percent for forestry. The soil conditions are among the best in the Leszno area.
history
Interrupted by the German occupation in the Second World War from 1919 to 1975, today's municipal area belonged to the Poznan Voivodeship, with different layouts. - The German minority was expelled after the World War .
From 1975 to 1998 the municipality belonged to the Leszno Voivodeship . The powiat was dissolved during this time. The rural community of Borek was converted into various gromadas in 1954 and newly created on January 1, 1973.
