Dolsk ( German Dolzig ) is a city in the powiat Śremski of the Greater Poland Voivodeship in Poland . It is the seat of the town-and-country municipality of the same name with 5872 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2019).

history

The first written mention of today's Dolsk comes from the year 1136 when a market town called Dolzco was mentioned. In 1359 Dolsk received city ​​rights from Casimir the Great . During the Second Partition of Poland , the city became part of Prussia . In 1807 the place briefly became part of the Duchy of Warsaw , before becoming part of Prussia again in 1815 as Dolzig . The population consisted mostly of Poles; In 1848 the Poles deposed the mayor appointed by the Prussian government in Dolzig. After the end of the First World War , the place became part of the re-established Poland . In September 1939 the Dolsk, like all of Poland, was occupied by the Wehrmacht . After the end of the Second World War , the city became part of Poland again.
