Volker Gebbert

Volker Hermann Siegmar Gebbert (born February 3, 1939 in Nuremberg or Erlangen, † September 22, 2009 in Berlin) was a German industrial sociologist.

Gebbert moved to West Berlin with his family. His father was an engineer and so he also began studying engineering there, but then enrolled in the subject of journalism at the Free University of Berlin .

In 1963 he met Fritz Teufel . After activities in the left milieu, he was co-founder of Commune I since February 19, 1967 , where he sticks "the third butt from the right" into the camera in a photo that has been widely spread. 1967 ran u. a. an investigation against him for crimes involving explosives.

After the dissolution of Commune I in November 1969, he studied sociology and received his doctorate. As an industrial sociologist, he dealt with working conditions in the iron and steel industry.

He became wealthy through an inheritance. He was married to Christa Gebbert since the mid-1960s.
