Volker Okun

Volker Okun (born March 2, 1948 in Hamburg ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and was a member of the Hamburg Parliament.

Life

Volker Okun studied business administration from 1972 to 1977 with a degree in business administration from the University of Hamburg. Before that, he completed an apprenticeship as a banker at Deutsche Bank AG in Hamburg. From 1977 to 1993 he worked in various banking areas. Most recently as director of a Hamburg private bank. From 1994 to 2011 he worked as managing director of the state guild of building cleaners in Hamburg. Since 2010 he has been the managing director of the Gesamtverband des Hamburger Handwerks eV

Since 1991 he has been honorary treasurer in the presidium of the Hamburg Football Association. Since 1997 honorary officer in the Hamburg Football Association and in this function member of the DFB volunteer commission.

Since 1968 Volker Okun has been a member of the Christian Democrats in Hamburg. He was chairman of the CDU Bahrenfeld for 20 years. From 1972 to 1978 elected citizen in the transport committee of the district assembly Altona. Member of the district assembly of Hamburg-Altona from 1978 to 1994.

Volker Okun has been a member of the Hamburg Parliament since 1994 . There he was sports policy spokesman for the CDU parliamentary group from 1996 until his departure in 2005.

In April 2005 he resigned from his mandate. He explained his move with work overload, especially with increased professional demands. This step can also be related to the fact that investigations into suspected electoral fraud were initiated. Before the 2004 election, Volker Okun was accused of not having lived in Hamburg, but in Brackel in Lower Saxony . According to the electoral law, he would no longer be entitled to be elected as a member of the Hamburg parliament. However, the investigation was discontinued.
