Volker Pesch

Volker Pesch (born November 15, 1966 in Kempen am Niederrhein ) is a German writer and publicist.

life and work

From 1988 to 1995 Pesch studied political science, history and philosophy at the University of Cologne , was a research assistant at the University of Greifswald , where he received his doctorate in 1999 . He switched to the University of Erfurt as a university assistant . After leaving university in 2001, he worked as a freelance writer, scriptwriter for web-based training and DTP designer, among other things. He wrote image brochures and detective stories, participated in various national and international projects of the Steinbeis Team Nordost and supervised an adult education project for the state center for political education in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . From 2016 to 2020 he ran his own business in the University and Hanseatic City of Greifswald , which u. a. commanded the training ship Greif . In 2018 he was acting as the managing director of Greifswalder Stadtmarketing GmbH.

From 2005 to 2019 Pesch was chairman of the board of directors of Greifswalder Museumshafen eV and from 2009 to 2013 of the nationwide Association of German Museum Ports eV In these functions, he worked intensively for the preservation of traditional German ships. In 2001 he was the founding chairman of the Greifswalder Museumswerft eV . In addition, he was and is involved in a variety of voluntary work, including as managing director of Nordwind Segeln eV and Kulturfelder eV

Pesch writes detective novels and short stories. His journalistic work primarily includes articles on traditional shipping and maritime history as well as on topics related to nature and hunting. On his website he regularly publishes the column Stalking the wrong way. He is responsible for the In the Book Forest section of the Halali magazine and reviews newly published specialist books and fiction there .

Pesch is a member of the Syndicate Association for German-language crime literature. He lives with his wife near Greifswald.
