Volker Schiek

Volker Schiek (born February 20, 1950 in Bünde ) is a German lawyer and politician ( SPD ). As a political official , he was State Councilor of the Interior and Sports Authority (BIS) in Hamburg between March 24, 2011 and June 30, 2015 .

Life

Volker Schiek graduated from the Helmholtz-Gymnasium in Bielefeld in 1969. From 1969 to 1971 he was a regular soldier and left the reserve as an officer. From 1971 to 1976 he studied law at Bielefeld University . He completed his legal clerkship in Schleswig-Holstein . In 1978 he passed the 2nd state examination in Hamburg. From 1979 he held various positions in the administration of the city of Hamburg. After starting as a candidate in 1979, he was a specialist under Senator Alfons Pawelczyk from 1980 to 1983 in the Department of Home Affairs and deputy head of the Senator's office. From 1983 to 1985 he headed the legal department at the Central Residents Office and was also deputy head of the office. From 1985 to 1988 he headed the foreigners department and was again deputy head of office.

He then headed the Central Residents Office until 1991. In 1991 he moved to BIS, where he was head of the legal and policy department and deputy head of the office for internal administration and planning. In 1994 he took over the management of the office.

Until his appointment to the State Council, he was in this position responsible for the budget of the authority and chairman of the supervisory board or the administrative board of the Society for Real Estate Management of Museums, Police and Fire Brigade (IMPF), the State Transport Authority and the Statistical Office for Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein. In addition, Volker Schiek is Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board of TÜV Hanse .

On June 30, 2015, the lawyer left the Hamburg Senate Department for Home Affairs and Sport and was retired. His successor in the office of the State Council was Bernd Krösser .

Volker Schiek is a widower and has two children.
