Volker Worlitzsch

Volker Worlitzsch is a German violinist and former concert master of the NDR Radiophilharmonie in Hanover .

Life

Worlitzsch studied violin with Otto Schad (Detmold), André Gertler (Hanover) and Josef Suk (Prague). After stints in Soest and Zurich, he became first concertmaster in the then Berlin Symphony Orchestra in 1967 . In 1968 he switched to the Berlin Philharmonic as a violinist . In May 1970 he accepted the position of first concertmaster at the NDR Radiophilharmonie in Hanover, which he held until his retirement in 2009.

From 1985 to 1987 he directed a class for violin and chamber music at the Detmold University of Music . He is still responsible at the university for the supervision of the string groups of the university orchestras and directs the university orchestra of the Hannover Medical School .

In addition to many years of experience in the professional music business with recordings and radio broadcasts with solo parts, Worlitzsch has also performed frequently as a soloist with youth, university and amateur orchestras.

Worlitzsch holds patents on a string instrument he invented and a tailpiece .

He is married to the violist Monika Worlitzsch , who has also been active in the NDR Radiophilharmonie since 1975 .
