Volkmar II. (Harzgau)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Volkmar II. († September 1 or October 1, 1015 ) was a count in the Harzgau .

Volkmar II. Was probably a Wettiner and possibly a son of the Harz Gaugrafen Volkmar I , attested in 945, but he can also be a son of Count Friedrich III. in the Harzgau and so possibly a grandson of Volkmars I.

Volkmar fell on September 1 (or October 1) 1015 on the fourth campaign of Emperor Henry II against King Boleslaw of Poland near Crossen on the Oder with the rearguard of the imperial army commanded by Margrave Gero .
