Volkmar Würtz

Volkmar Würtz (born October 3, 1938 in Karlsruhe ) is a former German sword fencer . He fought at TSV Mannheim , later at Heidenheimer SB and Darmstädter FC. In 1964 he took part in the Olympic Games in Tokyo .

successes

In 1958 Würtz became German junior team champion in epee fencing with TSV Mannheim. In 1961 he won the German team championship for active players with TSV Mannheim. In 1964 he was part of the men's sword team at the Olympic Games in Tokyo. Together with Franz Rompza , Max Geuter , Paul Gnaier and Haakon Stein he took sixth place out of 18 participants. As a senior, he took part in several international senior competitions and in 2005 won the German senior championship in his age group.

His brother Rüdiger Würtz was also a successful fencer and Volkmar's teammate at the German team championships in 1961.
