Volkram Anton Scharf

Volkram Anton Scharf , pseudonym Katsu (born September 9, 1906 in Duisburg , † 1987 ) was a German painter and sculptor .

At an early age, Scharf tended towards literature, theater and music. After his training as a painter and sculptor, in 1928 also at the Art Academy in Düsseldorf , he made several trips within Europe, the USA and the Far East in the 1920s and 1930s . His hike to Italy in 1927 is well known . During his travels he created watercolors and drawings.

In 1947, Scharf and his family settled in Oestrum , then a district of Rheinhausen , today a district of Duisburg . Since then he has lived and worked in Rheinhausen, organizing exhibitions, concerts and lectures.

Anton Scharf was considered a committed and uncomfortable promoter of Duisburg culture. In 1987 Scharf died after a serious illness. On his 100th birthday, numerous exhibitions were organized in his honor in the Duisburg area.
