Oestrum is a district of the city of Duisburg in North Rhine-Westphalia . Until 1921, Oestrum was an independent municipality in what was then the district of Moers .

geography

Today, Oestrum is a residential area within the Bergheim district of Duisburg , which is part of the Rheinhausen district. It covers the area between Moerser Strasse and the L 237, the Rheinhausen motorway feeder. The north-western part of this area is called Bergfeld . The former municipality of Oestrum also included trumpet and areas that are now part of Bergheim. The former municipality of Oestrum had an area of ​​2.73 km².

history

Oestrum has been a rural community in the mayor's office of Hochemmerich since the 19th century . This belonged to the Geldern district until 1857 and to the Moers district since 1857. On April 1, 1921, Oestrum was incorporated into the municipality of Hochemmerich together with the neighboring municipality of Bergheim . The thus enlarged municipality of Hochemmerich in turn merged with the municipality of Friemersheim to form the new municipality of Rheinhausen in 1923 . Rheinhausen, which was elevated to a city in 1934, became part of the city of Duisburg in 1975.

Architectural monuments

The farmhouse Asberger Straße 59, the Schürenhof (Burgfeld 49), the Cleefsche Hof (Burgfeld 129), the residential buildings Eichenstraße 7 and 28 as well as the so-called "Friedenseiche" with tree slice and historical fencing and the square as the center are located in the former municipality of Oestrum under monument protection .
