history

The Volksbank has its origins in 1861, with the establishment of an advance payment association with the aim of providing customers with cheap loans. After the turmoil of the First World War, it was decided to establish a branch of the Rheinische Kreditbank as a successor. This branch was followed in 1924 by the establishment of the Überlingen eGmuH loan office. Already two years later the name was changed to Volksbank Überlingen eGmuH . In 1981 the Volksbank Überlingen merged with the Volksbanken Markdorf and Immenstaad to form the new Volksbank eG based in Überlingen. In 1992 Volksbank Stockach was taken over . This makes the credit institute the largest Volksbank on Lake Constance.
