The People's Bank Ascheberg-Herbern eG is a cooperative bank based in Ascheberg in Coesfeld in North Rhine-Westphalia .

history

Volksbank Ascheberg was founded on August 19, 1883 as the first savings and loan association in the Lüdinghausen district. The savings and loan association was founded in Herbern on August 24, 1884 by 90 people.

1994 merged the Volksbanken Ascheberg Herbern and with 92-percent approval of the members of the second largest credit union in Südkreis Lüdinghausen. The balance sheet total was 162 million marks. The number of members climbed over the 3000 mark, so that the general assemblies were replaced by representative assemblies a year later.

In 2012 the bank building in Ascheberg and the bank building in Herbern were modernized. The current balance sheet total is 185 million euros. (As of December 31, 2015)

In January 2014, the third branch in Davensberg was also rebuilt.

Business figures

The number of customers was over 11,400 at the end of 2016, of which 6,095 are members. Equity amounted to EUR 16.9 million in 2016.
