The foundation stone for today's Volksbank Kirchhellen eG was laid on December 27, 1888 by 24 Bottrop citizens with the establishment of the Bottrop savings and loan association with unlimited liability. Franz Storb was the first chairman and the first banking transactions were carried out in Haus Jansen, Am Altmarkt 7. In 1926, the new bank building at Kirchhellener Strasse 10 moved into. This bank building, which was listed as a historical monument in 1992, is now the premises of the "Old Stock Exchange". In 1971 the foundation stone of the new savings and loan bank in Bottrop, Kirchhellener, was laid Street 6-8. The bank building was occupied in 1974. In 1973 the savings and loan fund Bottrop was renamed Volksbank eG, Bottrop.
Volksbank Kirchhellen eG
On January 20, 1889, 42 citizens from all walks of life founded the Kirchhellen savings and loan association, a registered cooperative. The farmer Johannes Breuker, the co-founder of the farmers' association, played a key role in this. In 1973 the savings and loan association Kirchhellen was renamed Volksbank Kirchhellen eG. In 1989 the Volksbank Kirchhellen eG building was rebuilt at Johann-Breuker-Platz 6 in Bottrop-Kirchhellen.

In 1990 Volksbank Kirchhellen eG and Volksbank eG, Bottrop merged to form Volksbank Kirchhellen eG. Between 2000 and 2003 the historical reconstruction of the "Alte Börse" building was carried out taking into account the old structure. With the renovation, additional office and event rooms were created. In 2007, the Volksbank's competence center at Kirchhellener Strasse 6-8 in Bottrop was completely renovated. The redesigned customer hall on the ground floor was opened on July 16, 2007.
In 2012 the facility center in Grafenwald was redesigned and the following year the renovation of the competence center in Kirchhellen began. The Volksbank premises were rebuilt and modernized in ten months of renovation. The new building was opened on October 14, 2013.
