history
On September 29, 1893, the Selm savings and loan association was founded mainly by craftsmen and farmers. In 1937 there were 237 members.
A new start took place with the currency reform on June 20, 1948; the first general assembly took place on January 8, 1949. From then on, the new banking services such as transfers, checks and bills of exchange grew steadily. In 1959, the Selm savings and loan association moved into a new, larger office on Ludgeristraße. In 1967 a branch was added on Kreisstrasse in Selm. Further branches were opened in Cappenberg (1974), in Alstedde (1979), in Altlünen (1982) and in Lünen (1986).
On January 1, 1975, the Selm savings and loan fund changed its name to Volksbank Selm eG . In 1999 Volksbank Selm eG merged with Volksbank Bork eG to form Volksbank Selm-Bork eG .
