Volksbank Goch-Kevelaer eG

In the business area of the former Volksbank Goch-Kevelaer eG, it was the citizens of Uedem who founded the Uedemer Bank in 1885, the first cooperative credit institute in the area. In the following years another 13 foundings were made. The youngest of these foundations was Volksbank Niederrhein eG in 1956.

Weezer Volksbank eGmbH, which was founded on December 9, 1894 as a savings and loan fund and was renamed Weezer Volksbank eGmuH (from 1964: eGmbH) in the 1920s, took over several neighboring cooperatives over the years, which ultimately resulted in Volksbank Goch- Kevelaer was born. When the cooperative was founded, 130 members already joined. Count Friedrich von Loe was elected as the first chairman and the farmer Lambert van Doornick as his deputy. 75 years of Weezer Volksbank eGmbH Weeze / Niederrhein. 1894–1969, unpublished weeze municipal archive: list of members of the savings and loan fund Weeze, 1894–1914

In 1970 the Weezer Volksbank eGmbH took over the savings and loan association Kevelaer (founded in 1895), the savings and loan association Wetten (founded in 1897) and the savings and loan association Winnekendonk (founded in 1894), which in 1967 became the savings and loan association Kervenheim (founded in 1904). With the merger in 1970, Volksbank Weeze changed its name to Volksbank Kevelaer. In 1981 Volksbank Kevelaer eG took over the savings and loan association Twisteden eG (founded in 1900). In 1990 Volksbank Kevelaer eG merged with Volksbank Goch-Uedem eG. After the merger, the cooperative bank was called Volksbank Goch-Kevelaer eG. In 1990 Volksbank Goch-Kevelaer eG had 9,471 members. The number of members rose to 10,760 by 1993. The balance sheet total increased from DM 573,638,000 to DM 738,455,000 in the same period.

Before the merger with Volksbank Gelderland eG, Volksbank Goch-Kevelaer eG had ten other branches in addition to its main office in Kevelaer, including in Asperden, Goch, Uedem and Weeze. From the savings and loan fund Louisendorf to Voba Goch-Kevelaer.

Volksbank Goch-Uedem eG emerged from a large number of mergers. In 1986, Uedemer Bank eG (founded in 1885) and Volksbank Goch eG merged to form Volksbank Goch-Uedem eG. It can be assumed that in all the mergers that ultimately resulted in Volksbank Goch-Uedem eG, the savings and loan fund Goch, founded in 1906, was the merging partner taking over. The cooperative founded in 1906 first merged in 1970 with the savings and loan fund Keppeln-Louisendorf-Pfalzdorf. In 1974 the merger with Volksbank Niederrhein eG followed. At the same time, the cooperative was renamed Volksbank Goch eG. In 1976 Volksbank Goch eG took over the savings and loan fund Hassum-Asperden eG, which presumably emerged from the savings and loan fund Hassum founded in 1895 and which in 1970 took over the savings and loan fund Asperden (founded in 1897). The Volksbank Goch-Uedem.

The savings and loan fund Keppeln-Louisendorf-Pfalzdorf probably goes back to the savings and loan fund Keppeln founded in 1897. In 1955, it initially took over the savings and loan association Louisendorf (founded in 1922) and then changed its name to the savings and loan association Keppeln-Louisendorf. In 1965 she finally took over the savings and loan fund Pfalzdorf (founded in 1895), which gave rise to the name Spar and loan fund Keppeln-Louisendorf-Pfalzdorf.
