Volkwin (Minden)

Volkwin (also Volkwin von Schwalenberg ; * around 1240/45; † May 4, 1293 ) was Bishop of Minden from 1275 .

Volkwin came from the family of the Counts of Schwalenberg . He was the younger son of Count Volkwin IV. Von Schwalenberg and his wife Ermengard von Schwarzburg-Blankenburg, daughter of Count Heinrich II. Von Schwarzburg .

He was first canon and provost of Minden. From 1275 as Bishop of Minden, he quarreled with his secular neighbors.

On January 30, 1279 he gave Lübbecke near Minden city rights.
