Vonbrigði ( Isl . : "disappointment" ) is a punk rock band from the Icelandic capital Reykjavík .

The band was founded in 1980 by the brothers Árni (guitar) and Þórarinn Kristjánsson (drums) and Gunnar E. Knudsen (bass). Shortly afterwards, singer Jóhann Vilhjálmsson joined them. The band existed until 1985. During this time they brought out two records: the debut album Vonbrigði and Kakófónía .

In 1982 Vonbrigði appeared in the documentary Rock in Reykjavík ( Rokk í Reykjavík ) by the filmmaker Friðrik Þór Friðriksson , in which Björk also appeared with her band Tappi Tíkarrass .

In 2004 the musicians started a comeback. The guitarist Hallur Ingólfsson joined the four-piece original line-up. They gave their first concert in 19 years in the opening act for the British band The Fall on November 17, 2004. In the same year, the third album Eðli annara was released . The current disc from 2009 is called Tapir.
