The first generation of the Jensen Interceptor was built by the British car manufacturer Jensen between 1950 and 1957 . The name was later used again in the Jensen Interceptor, which was built from 1966 . The 1950 version is therefore now referred to as the Early Interceptor .

The vehicle's technology was based on Austin components . The frame was an extended version of the construction from the Austin A70 , the engine and transmission came from the Austin Sheerline . The independent design of the series was created by Eric Neale. The Austin A40 Sports presented in the same year and equipped with a body by Jensen took up these lines and looks like a scaled-down version of the Interceptor.

The two-door model was initially available as a convertible from 1950. The steel and aluminum body panels were mounted on a wooden frame. From 1952 the series was also available as a coupé. A total of 88 vehicles were sold in the eight-year construction period.
