Vonkaputous in Linnanmäki ( Helsinki , Uusimaa , Finland ) was a water rollercoaster model Liquid Coaster by the manufacturer Premier Rides , which opened on May 12, 2001. It was closed on October 22, 2017. So far it is the only roller coaster of this manufacturer's model and, after Poseidon in Europa-Park, the second water roller coaster in Europe.
Finnish lumberjack and sawmill stations were used as a theme, with two wooden houses being passed through.
Vonkaputous owned three cars, each weighing 1,700 kg. Ten people (five rows of two people) could sit in each car.
journey
The layout was kept very simple. After the wagons were pulled up the 24 m high lift hill, the wagons drove a curved descent along the direction of the large descent. The cars accelerated to 60 km / h and shot into the water. The cars were only braked by the water; neither friction brakes nor magnetic brakes were used. The wagons reached the station through a gentle flow of water and friction wheels.
If the water level in the outlet basin was too low and there was therefore a risk of insufficient braking power, the computer system did not give the wagons a start release and, in addition, rubber surfaces were mounted on the rail tubes along the outlet section, which caused additional friction.
