Preparatory course (university)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In Austria, a preparatory course (also higher education qualification course) is a course for a higher education qualification test  (SBP), the subject-specific admission to a degree .

Since 2010, the university entrance examination has been completely in the autonomy of the universities , which determine their own requirements. The material can be developed in self-study or sometimes at the university in distance learning . Separate preparatory courses are offered particularly at universities of applied sciences and teacher training colleges , but also at some universities . At the same time, there are courses of this kind at adult education centers , at the vocational training institute , or at private training institutes that cooperate with neighboring universities in their offer.

The courses usually last 2  semesters (1 year). They are usually subject to a charge, but depending on the federal state, they are paid for through educational grants.
