The company primarily invests in real estate in New York City. For example, the 731 Lexington Avenue , One Penn Plaza and Hotel Pennsylvania buildings are owned by the company. Vornado has a share in other buildings in a total of 88 buildings in New York alone. In 2017, 70% of 555 California Street in San Francisco was acquired.
The company has a 32.5% stake in the US toy group Toys'R'Us .
In 1998 the Merchandise Mart department store in Chicago was acquired.
