Location of the former Drackendorf Vorwerk with summer linden tree

The Drackendorf Vorwerk was a Vorwerk of the Drackendorf community in the Jena district in Thuringia .

location

The Vorwerk was on the western edge of the Wöllmisse north of Drackendorf above the Spitzberg at about 380 meters above sea level.

history

The Vorwerk Drackendorf served in the Middle Ages to supply the Lobdeburg . Later it came into the possession of the Lords of Puster and the Drackendorf manor. The last user left the Vorwerk in 1953 or 1954. After that, the buildings and the surrounding open spaces were temporarily used by Jena glider pilots as a base and practice area. Photos from this period show a house and barns; until recently there was no connection to the public electricity and water supply. After the future of Jena aviation sport was clarified with the expansion of the Schöngleina airfield , the buildings were demolished in 1959.

Today only a few overgrown wall remains, a notice board and a summer linden tree visible from afar remind of the Drackendorf Vorwerk.
