Vorwerk Steinberg is a residential area in the district of Lunow in the municipality of Lunow-Stolzenhagen ( Barnim district , Brandenburg). The Vorwerk was built in 1825/26 by the Neuendorf Education Authority.

location

The Vorwerk Steinberg residential area is located on the road connecting Lunow to Lüdersdorf , about 700 meters from the center of Lunow, about halfway between the two centers of Lunow and Lüdersdorf. The living space is about 57  m above sea level. NHN .

history

In 1825, the new Vorwerk between Lunow and Lüdersdorf, built on the Lunow field by the leaseholder of the Neuendorf Education Authority, Friedrich Wilhelm Karbe (1793–1855), was named. The Vorwerk was definitely completed in 1826, because it is already recorded on the original measuring table sheet from 1826. In 1840, the Vorwerk already had three houses in which 37 people lived. Friedrich Karbe had become a wealthy man by leasing the school property. In 1845 he bought the Kurtschow manor in what was then the Crossen district (today Korczyców , Powiat Krośnieński , Poland) for 72,000 thalers from the previous owner Guthmann.

According to Heinrich Berghaus, the annual lease for the two outworks in Neuendorf and Steinberg in 1853 was 4539 thalers. In 1855 the leaseholder of the Neuendorf Education Authority, Friedrich Wilhelm Karbe, died. His widow, Mrs. Henriette geb. Baath (1799–1874) initially continued to run the office with the help of her son Friedrich Karbe, who was still designated as a school assistant in 1860/61 . In 1861 he was officially accepted as a co-tenant. In 1860, in addition to the three residential buildings, the Vorwerk Steinberg also had 15 farm buildings. Vorwerk Steinberg then belonged to the Neuendorf estate and was leased together with the Vorwerk in Neuendorf. The settlement in Vorwerk Steinberg had 47 inhabitants in 1860.

In 1863, Adolf Frantz stated the size of the Steinberg farm as 1306 acres, of which 790 acres were arable, 272 acres were meadows and 178 acres were pasture (adding up only results in 1240 acres!).

According to the Royal Prussian State Gazette of 1864, the Neuendorf and Steinberg Vorwerke should (again) be leased for 18 years. At that time they comprised 2,423 acres of fields, 561 acres of meadows, 274 acres of pastures, 35 acres of gardens, 21 acres of courtyards and construction sites, 9 acres of water and 54 acres of land and roads, a total of 3380 acres (here, too, the addition gives only 3377 acres !). This included a distillery and a brick factory. The annual rent should amount to 9,330 thalers. The future leaseholder also had to prove a fortune of at least 40,000 thalers. The old (co-) tenant was also the new tenant of the two farms, namely Friedrich Karbe. He was one of the first to take advantage of the new telegraph. In 1865 he had the two outbuildings connected by means of a telegraphic wire .

In 1871, 54 people lived in the three houses. No separate population figures for Steinberg were collected for 1890; the Neuendorf estate had a total of 212 inhabitants.

The general address book from 1879 now gives the size in hectares for the first time, unfortunately not separately for the Vorwerk in Neuendorf and the Vorwerk Steinberg. The two farms had a total size of 819.53 hectares, of which 610.93 hectares were arable, 137.35 hectares were meadows, 68.55 hectares and 2.7 hectares of water. The property tax entry is valued at 16,896 marks. The tenant was Oberamtmann Friedrich Karbe. In the handbooks of real estate in the German Empire of 1885 and 1896 the corresponding figures are: 971 hectares in total, 671 hectares of arable land, 102 hectares of meadows, 83 hectares of Hutung, 4 hectares of wilderness and 111 hectares of water. The property tax entry was now set at 17,380 marks. The following industrial plants are mentioned: a distillery, a steam grinder and a brick factory. Sigm was now the tenant. Meyer. The tenant had changed again by 1903, his name was now Otto.

The tenant's full name, Georg Otto, is listed in Niekammer's goods directory for the province of Brandenburg from 1907. After this work, the two farms together had a size of 867 hectares, of which 668 hectares were arable, 131 hectares were meadows, 50 hectares were Hutung, 16 hectares were unland and 2 hectares were water. The property tax net income is now set at 17,597 marks. 34 horses, 184 cattle, of which 34 cows, 32 sheep and 109 pigs were kept on the two farms. Only one distillery is now indicated on industrial plants .

In 1921, the landed property handbook again gave slightly different figures. 617 hectares of arable land, 140 hectares of meadows, 69 hectares of Hutung, 40 hectares of forest, 44 hectares of land and 3 hectares of water (results in 913 hectares) The livestock consisted of 38 horses, 172 head of cattle, including 51 cows, 2 stud bulls, 45 draft oxen and 10 pigs. A distillery is also mentioned under the heading of industrial plants . Georg Otto was still the tenant. Georg Otto is also noted as the lessee in the last of Niekammer's goods books. The figures mentioned there still relate to 1928 and the situation before the estate districts were dissolved.

Communal history

Vorwerk Steinberg was built by the Neuendorf Education Authority and belonged to the Neuendorf estate from the middle of the 19th century. Neuendorf and Steindorf were then included in the Angermünde district.

In 1874 the Neuendorf school authority was dissolved, and sovereign powers were transferred to the Angermünde district and the newly established administrative districts. Neuendorf and the Vorwerk Steinberg were assigned to the district 12 Neuendorf of the Angermünde district. Friedrich Karbe, the leaseholder of the Neuendorf school property, was appointed head of office, and his deputy was the mayor of Oderberg Brenger.

In 1928 the Neuendorf estate was dissolved. Parts were attached to the rural communities Lunow and Hohensaaten. The rural community Neuendorf was re-formed from the rest and parts of the Freienwalde Forst manor district (today Oderberg-Neuendorf).
