Voxtrot was an American indie pop band from Austin , Texas . The band was formed by Ramesh Srivastava, Jason Chronis, Matt Simon, Mitch Calvert and Jared Van Fleet. Ramesh Srivastava, who now works as a solo artist, was largely responsible for the music and text.
Band history
The band produced their first EP Raised By Wolves in 2003 as a self-burned CD, which several independent record stores in Austin added to their range and sold. In 2005 the EP was distributed by Cult Hero Records . The following, five-song EP Mothers, Sisters, Daughters & Wives brought out Voxtrot on April 4, 2006. After the band switched to Playlouderecordings in the same year , the next EP was released on November 7th with Your Biggest Fan . At the end of May 2007, the band's first long player, the album Voxtrot , was released and received very good reviews.
In the US, Voxtrot has already received a lot of praise from online and print media such as Spin and Pitchfork Media . The band's biggest hit so far was # 4 on Billboard Hot Single Sales with Your Biggest Fan . But the band also became aware of the band in Europe, so that the group was able to go on tour in the Old World in the summer of 2007 and after all reached number 19 in the UK Independent Charts with Firecracker . After a long time without publications, the single Trepanation Party was released as a download in 2009 . In the same year the band released another single, Berlin, Without Return .
On April 21, 2010, Ramesh Srivastava announced the breakup of the band following a short US farewell tour.
