Vučkovec - north side

Vučkovec (in German : Wutschkowetz ) is a locality with a thermal spring . This is located in Međimurje , the northernmost county in Croatia . It has been known for its warm, mineral and medicinal water for almost a century.

history

Located in the upper, hilly part of the county, a few kilometers south of the municipality seat Sveti Martin na Muri ( Sankt Martin an der Mur ), the thermal spring was found before the First World War during deep drilling for oil exploration . The water temperature reached 33 ° C - 34 ° C, with strong balneological properties, high mineral composition and the presence of carbon dioxide.

The first swimming pool was built in the 1930s when Josip Kraljić, a businessman from Čakovec , was the owner . When the water from the spring was also suitable for drinking, it was bottled and known as the “Vučkovec” mineral spring from Međimurje until the beginning of the Second World War . After the war, the facility was nationalized and managed by the local tourist company “Union” under the name “Toplice Vučkovec” ( Vučkovec Thermal Baths ).

Todays situation

After Croatia's independence, the location was taken over and renovated in 1996 by the company “Modeks” from Mursko Središće . New swimming pools, recreational facilities, changing rooms, parking lots, a restaurant and other accompanying facilities were built. In 2003 a new owner came, the company "Toplice Sveti Martin" AG, which invested a lot in the development and expansion of capacities (new indoor swimming pool , new hotel "Spa Golfer", saunas , solariums , golf courses , facilities for congress tourism , etc.).
