history

A site with rare Roman coins and other remains of ancient culture was discovered here and partially investigated.
In the Middle Ages, the area was important because of its location. The parish of Sankt Martin is first mentioned in 1334. Some Gothic and Baroque churches were built at that time or a little later, as well as castles and mansions (Gradiščak, Lapšina). The Gradiščak and Lapšina castles belonged to members of the Mlakovečki ( Hungarian Malakóczi or Malakóczy ) family in the 16th and 17th centuries .
