Georgian Institute in Athens

The Georgian Institute in Athens ( Greek Γεωργιανό Ινστιτούτο Αθηνών , English Georgian Institute at Athens ) is one of 17 foreign archaeological institutes in Greece , all of which have their headquarters in Athens .

In 1998 the institute was raised to the rank of “Archaeological School” by the Greek Ministry of Culture. It was the first Georgian institution abroad. The tasks of the institute cover all aspects of the Greek-Georgian cultural exchange , the scientific research does not focus solely on archeology. The Institute's director is currently Avtandil Mikaberidze .
