The Vũ Quang National Park (vietn. Vườn quốc gia Vũ Quang ) is located in northwest Vietnam and is best known for the fact that the Vu Quang antelope and the giant muntjac were discovered in this area in the 1990s . Both animal species were previously unknown to science and one could hardly expect the discovery of such large mammal species. The park covers an area of 559 square kilometers and includes altitudes between 30 m and 2286 m. In addition to rare mammals, the protected area is characterized by a very diverse bird world. A total of 273 bird species live in the park. In addition to the Vu-Quang antelope , the mammals also include Asiatic elephants , gaure , rhesus monkeys , bear macaques , red-thighed robe monkeys and serau .
Two research stations have been set up in the park to combat deforestation.
