The Yok Đôn National Park ( Vietnamese Vườn quốc gia Yok Đôn ) is located in Dak Lak Province , in the Buon Don district in Vietnam . It was founded on October 20, 1991 and covers an area of ​​1155 km², making it the largest national park in Vietnam.

The area is relatively flat: there are only two mountains south of the Srepok River .

Flora and fauna

Over 90 percent of the forest area consists of natural, deciduous Dipterocarpaces - dry forests ( Dipterocarpus obtusifolius , Dipterocarpus turberculatus , Shorea cotusa , Pentacme siamensis and Terminalia tomentos ). The national park is important for the conservation of regional animal species. Forty-three species of mammals have been sighted to date, including large mammals such as the Asian elephant ( Elephas maximus ), Gaur ( Bos gaurus ), Banteng ( Bos javanicus ) and black-legged robe monkey ( Pygathrix nigripes ). Furthermore, 245 bird species, at least 78 fish species, and 85 butterfly species have been identified, many of which are on Vietnam's Red List . A significant population of an estimated 400 ears carrier Peacock ( Pavo muticus ) and the endangered carp fish Probarbus julieni exist in the National Park. Wild water buffalo ( Bubalus arnee ), kouprey ( Bos sauveli ) collar bear ( Ursus thibetanus ), reed cat ( Felis chaus ), fish cat ( Prionailurus viverrinus ), clouded leopard ( Pardofelis nebulosa ), tiger ( Panthera tigosa ) may also exist in Yok Don Siamese crocodile ( Crocdylus siamensis ).
