history

From 1464 to 1803 Vulpera belonged to Austria as part of the Tarasp rulership , before becoming Swiss at the same time as Graubünden entered the Confederation. The tourist boom began in 1880 and was linked to the brothers Caspar Pinösch and Duri Pinösch, who bought land and had hotels built. The First World War brought tourism to a standstill. In 1925 a golf course was built as a sign of a new beginning and an outdoor swimming pool was built in 1930. At the end of the 20th century, strong second home construction developed . Winter tourism is primarily geared towards Motta Naluns .

population

The population is Rhaeto-Romanic (with the idiom Vallader ) and, like those of Tarasp, Catholic in the middle of the otherwise Reformed Lower Engadine. The chapel of St. John Baptista was built in 1826.

traffic

Since October 10, 2010 Vulpera has been developed by the Punt d'En Vulpera / Tarasp , which replaces the old, flood-prone route from Nairs .
