History and Development

Vygon was founded on December 1, 1962 by the Belgian engineer Pierre Simonet in Écouen. The company develops, produces and sells catheters , drains and suction catheters made of plastic . As early as 1968, Pierre Simonet founded Vygon GmbH and Co. KG together with François Briolant as the first foreign branch in Aachen . From 1970 to 1990, additional production facilities were built in Germany, France and Belgium and numerous branches were opened throughout Europe as well as in the USA and India . In 2002 Vygon founded the subsidiary in Italy and expanded its activities in Eastern Europe as well as in the Middle East and Japan in the following years . To strengthen its presence in the USA, the Vygon Group acquired the American companies Advanced Medical Systems and Churchill Medical Products and relocated its American headquarters to Montgomer (Pennsylvania). With the takeover of the Motorola plant in Swindon, England in 2011 and the establishment of the branch in Norway in 2012, the Vygon Group expanded its European location even further. Today, Vygon develops, produces and sells medical devices in the areas of vascular access, enteral nutrition, ventilation, regional anesthesia and pain therapy .

Vygon in Germany

In the early years, Vygon Germany's range of products at its Aachen location consisted of plugs, connectors and other injection molded items. Constant growth and innovations ensured a gradual expansion of the products and manufacturing processes on offer. The Aachen-based production developed into a specialist for technologically sophisticated products, with its own extrusion and the focus on single and multi-lumen catheters with active ingredients for neonatology through to adults, as well as cardiological stimulation and balloon catheters . Today the location in Aachen employs 300 people. Our own production takes place under clean room conditions on a total of 3000 square meters. The production and sales processes are certified according to ISO 9001 and ISO 13845.
