Edgar Bryan (* 1970 in Birmingham , USA ) is an American artist . He mainly works in the media of painting and printmaking . He lives and works in Los Angeles .
Life
Edgar Bryan received a BFA from the Art Institute of Chicago in 1998 and an MFA from UCLA , Los Angeles in 2001 . Before starting his classical painting training, Edgar Bryan served as an illustrator for the US Air Force for over five years .

Edgar Bryan's naturalistic documentary style from his years with the US Air Force, some of which he spends in Germany illustrating the fall of the Berlin Wall , outgrows him in the direction of moderate realism . His paintings are multi-layered and legible and overlay ironic wit and seriousness, which can result in a wide range of interpretations. In terms of content, two classic genres usually determine Edgar Bryan's paintings: the self-portrait and the still life . In the form of the allegorical self-portrait, Edgar Bryan deals with his existence as a painter. Addressing the problems of his profession with irony and wit, he often shows himself in his pictures with a strained gaze in front of a canvas or illustrates his person in The Unknown Country (2004) with a naively astonished expression in the autumnal deciduous forest, whose colorful leaves dancing down the artistic game symbolize with colors and shapes.
