Vytautas Piesliakas

Vytautas Piesliakas (born June 28, 1953 in Kaunas ) is a Lithuanian criminal lawyer , professor of the Mykolas Romeris University and judge of the Supreme Court.

Life

After graduating from the 21st Vilnius Middle School , Piesliakas studied from 1971 to 1976 at the Vilnius University Law Faculty . From 1976 to 1981 he studied as an aspirant at the Kharkov Law Institute in Ukraine and received his doctorate in 1980 as a candidate in law. He then worked as a lawyer at the Vilnius University Law Faculty.

Since December 1997 he has been a judge at the Lithuanian Supreme Court ( Lietuvos Aukščiausiasis Teismas ) and since 1996 professor at the Mykolas Romeris University. He teaches criminal law. Vytautas Piesliakas headed the working group for the preparation of the new Lithuanian Criminal Code (LR BK) of 2000.
