Würzburg official building in Widdern

The Würzburg office building in Widdern in the Heilbronn district in northern Baden-Württemberg is a former office building of the Würzburg diocese .

history

The building core dates from around 1600. It served as the official home of the diocese of Wuerzburg which since the Middle Ages part of rams as a fief had awarded to nobles and even the since 1675 Ganerbenteil managed. After the end of the Ganerbe administration as a result of the Napoleonic Wars and the reorganization of the German south-west after 1800, the building, like the other Ganerbe buildings in Widdern, was also converted. In contrast to the Zyllnhardtschen Castle and the Gemmingen property ( castle and office building ), the building was not used for public use, but came into private ownership. It served as a rural property and fell into disrepair. In 1974 the entrepreneur and artist Helmut Kaiser (1913–2007) acquired the desolate building. In 14 years of work, Kaiser renovated the building and exposed the half-timbering. In addition, a ballroom was set up in the building, which was named Kaisersaal after the owner and has served as a stage for the local cabaret since 1995. Various spoils were built into the masonry at the office building , including mainly heraldic stones. A copy of the Madonna of Aries is also kept in a niche . The real figure from 1450 was once in the cemetery chapel and came to Bamberg in 1617 , where it has been venerated in the Martinskirche since 1625 .
