Wladyslaw Frasyniuk

Władysław Frasyniuk (born November 25, 1954 in Breslau ) is a Polish politician . He was active in the democratic opposition in the People's Republic of Poland , a member of the Sejm in the I., II. And III. Election term and chairman of the Unia Wolności and Partia Demokratyczna parties .

Frasyniuk completed his training as a car technician in Wroclaw in 1974 and worked as a bus driver. In 1981 he was elected chairman of the Lower Silesian Region Solidarność trade union . After martial law was declared , he stayed underground, where he u. a. Chairman of the Tymczasowa Komisja Koordinacyjna (Temporary Coordination Commission) of Solidarność was. In the period 1982–1986 he was imprisoned several times for his underground activities, and in 1986 he was released on an amnesty.

In 1989 he took part in the round table talks as a representative of Solidarność and in 1990 he co-founded the Ruch Obywatelski Akcja Demokratieyczna party (Citizens' Movement Democratic Action - ROAD) alongside Zbigniew Bujak .

1991–2001 he was a member of the Sejm for the Unia Demokratyczna and then the Unia Wolności . In the period 2001–2005 he was chairman of the Unia Wolności and 2005–2006 chairman of the successor party Partia Demokratyczna - demokraci.pl .
