Life

He studied at the University of St. Petersburg from 1894 to 1898. He then worked as an assistant at the Faculty of Mechanics at the Technical University in St. Petersburg . At first he was employed as an assistant since 1902 with tasks on experiments for shipbuilding. He began to hold lectures as early as 1903. As director of the shipbuilding laboratory, he worked there from 1914 to 1922, after which he returned to Warsaw in 1922. A year later he was called to teach at the Officers School of the Polish Navy in Toruń . He also received a teaching position at the Faculty of Chemistry at the Technical University in Warsaw .

This was followed by a call to the Cracow Mining Academy as a full professor at the chair for mechanics and material strength. He held the office of Vice-Rector at the Bergakademie from 1931 to 1933. From 1933 to 1934 and from 1938 to 1939 he held the office of Rector of the Bergakademie. On Monday, November 6, 1939, he was arrested by SS-Sturmbannführer Bruno Müller with over 100 professors as part of the Krakow special campaign and deported to Sachsenhausen concentration camp.

Even before his arrest, he suffered from a heart disease and was able to alleviate this weakness with the tonic digitalis . In the concentration camp he only consumed small amounts of food and gave parts of his rations to other prisoners. Soon he was suffering from severe edema , causing his legs to swell up badly. Under these circumstances there wasn’t much help in the infirmary either. Since he could no longer walk, he had to be carried. When he was hospitalized in the infirmary, a paramedic is said to have strangled him.
