from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Włodarz (German: Wolfsberg ) is a place with a former labor camp in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship in Poland . It is located in the Owl Mountains about twelve kilometers southeast of Wałbrzych ( Waldenburg ) at the 808  m high Wolfsberg.

history

1938 to 1945

At the time of the Second World War , part of Wolfsberg belonged to the Riese complex , a satellite camp of the Groß-Rosen concentration camp , which was set up for the Todt Organization . Wolfsberg (west of Wüstewaltersdorf and south of Hausdorf ) was the largest warehouse in the Riese project. Around 3,000 mostly Jewish prisoners were housed here. These were primarily used to build tunnels. The prisoners were housed in barracks at the foot of the Wlodarz (Wolfsberg) . Remains of the foundations can still be found at this point in a small wooded area.

The following companies were involved in the expansion of this part of the Riese complex: Lamm, Stohl & Butzer, Ackermann, Dübner and the United German Metalworks.

A total of 612 deaths were counted in the Wolfsberg labor camp. In 1945 the camp was cleared before the Red Army marched in .

After 1945

In 1945 Wolfsberg, like almost all of Silesia, fell to Poland and was renamed Włodarz . The German population was expelled . The new residents of the place were henceforth among others Polish expellees from eastern Poland .
