W. Douglas Buttrey

William Douglas Buttrey (born 1945) is an American manager. In 2006 he was Chairman of the Surface Transportation Board .

Life

From 1964 to 1968 W. Douglas Buttrey studied at the Tennessee Technological University - College of Business Administration and received a Bachelor of Science degree in "Business Administration and Management". He then went to the University of Memphis School of Law and in 1971 completed his Juris Doctor in Banking, Corporate, Finance, and Securities Law. He then worked and researched at the University of Miami School of Law in the field of international business law and aviation law. In 1973 he was admitted to the Florida bar.

From 1972 to 1976 he was a lawyer with the Civil Aeronautics Board . After that he was an advisor to the Aviation Subcommittee of the US Senate until 1979 . He then worked as a lobbyist for the Federal Express Corporation (FedEx) until 2001 . After working as a consultant in the meantime, he was appointed to the governing body of the regulatory authority Surface Transportion Boards on May 28, 2004 as the successor to Linda J. Morgan . On January 5, 2006, he was a member of the Republican Party after the end of Roger Nober's term of office, his successor as Chairman (Chairman) of the Surface Transportation Board. He was replaced on August 14, 2006 by Charles D. Nottingham . His regular term on the Board ended on December 31, 2008. He remained until the appointment of Daniel R. Elliott III's successor . Board member on March 13, 2009.

W. Douglas Buttrey has been a member of the management of a medium-sized transport company since 2009.

Buttrey is married and has one son.
