Roger Nober

Roger Paul Nober (born 19th September 1964 in Syracuse ( New York )) is an American manager in the railway sector. He was the head of the Surface Transportation Board from 2002 to 2006 .

Life

From 1979 to 1982 Roger Nober attended Amherst Regional High School in Amherst, Massachusetts . He then attended Haverford College and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics in 1986 . He then studied at Harvard Law School and graduated in 1989 with a Juris Doctor degree .

After graduating, he worked in the office of federal judge David Norton Edelstein . From 1991 to 1993 he worked for the New York law firm Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom .

From July 1993 he worked in various positions for the Committee of the US House of Representatives for Transportation and Infrastructure . In January 2001 he became its chief advisor. From May 2001 he was an advisor to the Deputy Minister of Transport. President George W. Bush named the Republican Party member on November 26, 2002 as Chairman of the Surface Transportation Board. He was the successor to William Clyburn Jr. In this position he was intended until December 31, 2005. From May 15, 2003 to May 28, 2004 he was even the sole member of the Surface Transportation Board. On January 4, 2006, he resigned from the board. He was succeeded by Charles D. Nottingham .

He then worked as a partner in the law firm Steptoe & Johnson LLP. Since January 1, 2007, he has been Executive Vice President, Law and Corporate Affairs on the board of directors of BNSF LLC .

He has been married since 1991 and has three children.
